In my opinion, "reverse" guilty pleasure is the opposite, where you don't feel guilty about liking something, but because of harsh criticism, or people bashing into the ground, therefore you feel guilty for liking it know you shouldn't. For instance, take these two famous franchise: Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey. Which I happen to love, but its becoming quite difficult to say that.
Ummm...oh yeah!
The Twilight franchise continues to receive harsh criticism along with bashing because of changing the "traditional" vampire to fit in a complementary world. People don't like the fact that Stephanie Meyers wrote HER VAMPIRES to "sparkle" in the sunlight. Sunlight is a weakness for "traditional" vampires. The other reason for people to bewildered it because of Belle (which I agree to an extent). Of course, Fifty Shades of Grey is now being made into major motion picture which will come out next year (I think). People are about Fifty Shades of Grey because Christian Grey characteristics come off as an abusive boyfriend towards Ana Steele, majority of the book is too erotic a.k.a smut (true), and the BDSM community did not like how E. L. James portrayed BDSM in HER book, and it started out as a fan fiction based on Twilight.
Yes, both books have their problems. Even knowing this I still love Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey, but because of the tragic bashing, it makes me feel stupid for liking it (which makes haters feel good), but I have no reason to feel stupid for liking what I like. For heaven's sake, don't let them haters catch you bashing something they like.
